——How it Kicked Off ——
While most of the previous caravans involved Central Americans who were already in Mexico, the current one began in Honduras itself. It was first organized by local activists on social media. However, some TV stations reported on it, spreading the word to a much larger audience. Many on the caravan describe seeing the coverage on TV and deciding to immediately pack their bags and go. People reacted to it because they are at breaking point, said Orlin Castro, a TV reporter in the Honduran city of San Pedro Sula, who covered it. (tv)
The caravan left San Pedro Sula in northern Honduras more than a week ago, following a call on social networks relayed by a former Honduran deputy.

The poster invited people on a ‘Migrant march’ with a slogan: ‘We’re not leaving because we want to, but because we are being expelled by violence and poverty.’

Thanks for the info.
But there must have been millions of dollars spent. Food, payments to drug cartels and criminal gangs for passage is expensive. Who is providing protection? Supplies and medicine and health care and places to stay must cost money. Who is caring for the children supposedly coming. That costs money.
