And rbg has narcolepsy?
Prayers up. Didnt her husband also developed dementia?
Yep. that was a heartbreaking story. He ended up not knowing his wife, but fell in love with another patient in the place he was living and they got married.
decent story of it here:
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1576716/Judge-lost-husband-to-Alzheimers-and-love.html
I knew about O’Connor’s husband (because of Alzheimers) falling in love with a woman in the nursing home. I didn’t know that he married the woman!
How heartbreaking for Sandra. She said she just wanted her husband to be happy.
Her husband died in 2009.
I never knew that, thanks.
As a nurse, Ive seen so many patients with dementia who were judges, doctors, lawyers, and professors in their former lives before succumbing
to this disease. Doesnt skip anyone.
So sad. My Grandmother had this horrible disease.
Appointed to the US Supreme Court by President Ronald Reagan who preceded her into those depths and who also took himself off of the public stage for the same reason. Dementia, no matter how it happens is a horrible condition for the victim and the family!
I remember reading about him and it really brought tears to my eyes.
I thought he and Sandra were married until his death? I never knew he married the other woman.
I was working with her niece at the time and she came in to work and said she had answered the phone at her Aunt Sandy’s home and told us it was President Reagan calling with regard to the Supreme Court position.
u r right. sorry. see my post 13
Horrible, and sad.
One of my home care patients was a physicist in the Manhattan Project.
I may have disagreed with Sandra Day O’Connor on a variety of subjects, but in her current state, I can only respond with the most raw and sincere sympathy.
Just awful and sad, to have your life removed from your conscious mind, memory by memory.
She removed herself from the judicial stage when she needed to, and I give her credit for that. May God grant her and her family the strength to withstand this trial with grace.
Amen. Couldn’t have said it better myself.
