There are many threads on the invasion force that is heading to our southern border.
In most of the threads some Freepers have offered military options, mostly tongue in cheek, and most not viable due to political fallout.
Assuming the US had agreement with the Mexican government and Mexican military, here's what the US military should do:
1. The plan starts with PSY OPS….Leaflet drops would be made on an hourly basis, from helicopters and C-130 aircraft. Many different leaflets would be dropped:
a. Some leaflets would paint a dire picture of the days ahead.
b. Some leaflets would describe the new asylum process which require asylum seekers to apply for asylum in Mexico…and that any asylum seeker that does not apply in Mexico would automatically be denied asylum in the US.
c. Some leaflets would offer free transportation back to their home.
d. Some leaflets would inform that all markets enroute have been provided security cameras. Anyone stealing food or committing any other crime will have their pictures sent to the US.
e. Some leaflets would inform that anyone committing a crime enroute will be denied asylum.
f. Some leaflets would inform that any migrant trying to enter for work will be immediately arrested and returned to their home country.
g. Some leaflets would inform that entry to the US will require identity documents, such as passport or birth certificate. Anyone without identity documents will be arrested and returned to the border between Mexico and Guatemala.
h. Leaflets will continue to drop during phase 2 and 3
i. Please feel free to add your recommendations for leaflets.
2. After a couple of days of leaflet drops, phase 2 will kick in with sleep deprivation.
a. F-22s will fly supersonic directly over the caravan. This can be done in a race track pattern so the caravan gets a sonic boom every 15 minutes for a 2 to 3 hour period.
b. Helicopters can then overfly the caravan with search lights and loud speakers.
c. Lather, rinse, repeat.
3. Phase 3 would involve making the invaders very uncomfortable physically. This phase would not occur until after the election. To accomplish this, the US forest service would provide water bombers to drop water over the caravan. I am confident the amount of water could be metered to prevent any injuries. The equivalent of a west Texas thunderstorm would do. This would be done several times at night between sonic booms. After a couple nights, the water could be mixed with harmless but foul smelling chemicals.
Only if the Commander in Chief orders that it be done.

You could not drop leaflets over a foreign country without permission from them.
You are assuming that these people can read.

No permanent damage and the optics are minimal. All that happens is people run from the area.
I like the way you roll, but the reality is that Federal law, international law and the courts, including that of public opinion, would frown upon your proposal.
Fingerprint and photograph every alien invader and let them in. Then make it known that any business who hires them will face a $10 million dollar fine per illegal hired, seizure of all assets and 20 years in federal prison.
That will throw the illegal hiring industry into chaos.

That is not going to happen. Those people will walk across the border in a few days. We do not, as a country, have the intestinal fortitude to do what would be necessary to stop them. Did you see them tear down the fence at the Mexico southern border? The only way to stop them is shooting them, and that ain’t happening.
Invoke the war powers act.
Allows the president to mobilize the military for up to 60 days of action. This should be sufficient to prevent the caravan from actually making the border.
Mexico won’t allow us to operate in their land. The horde will reach our border, with the women and children up front, and all news cameras on them. I think we’re limited to crowd dispersion like tear gas and giant fans. After the election, rubber bullets.
Mexico would never allow it. No country would allow that.
We can stop them at the border. We can make them all apply for asylum. We can hold them all. Anyone coming in illegally should be sent home immediately.
There is not much more we can do, based on our existing laws.
Right now we should be building tent cities for all of the nice people and their children.
Oh, and stop all money transfers out of our country to Central America. And stop all aid to Mexico and Central America.
Perhaps we can provide supplies as we do for hurricane relief, and even supply/build lots of tent cities on Mexican soil of course.
Process those that qualify for legal immigration and put their applications in the stack Return those that do not.
Such actions would completely deny the dems of the bad PR this is aimed to inflict on DJT. In the meantime, dems lose the PR battle as Americans see an invading force and finally understanding why we must have a secure border.
UPDATE; Mexico is just reportedly prohibiting further advances north. So, they have seen the light...all because of Trump's bold stance and reputation.
Forget water. Use "Skunk" from Odortec.
A-10 Warthogs - 10 would do nicely - unloading on the column of invaders.
Tell Mexico to end this. Or else.

Lay “tire blowout strips” to disable the trucks and busses.
Strategically locate the place to allow only turn arounds that head back south.
Military road checkpoints along the highway will turn around all vehicles. It cuts off their supply chain.
North is a permanent traffic jam.
South is open highway.
Walking North means starvation.
Walking South means buses to take you home.
Cut off the supply and redirect it.
Anybody still wanting to eat, heads back south.
Simple. - It is not rocket science.
If Mexico Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvado all cannot stop this and those countries don’t believe in sovereign boarders then I say we invade them all. Burn their capitals, raid their banks and auction off their resources.
