“If you can’t protect it you don’t own it.”
The first step to protecting “it” (presumably this country) is to have representatives who actually state that they will do so. What they do afterwards may well be different, so we’ll have to watch them very closely, but without that start, there will be no protecting anything.
Voting is a cheap and easy first line of defense. If you’re not willing to do even that little bit, then:
1) You have no right to complain; and
2) You likely won’t do things that are more difficult later.
