Bring back DDT. Problem solved.
Suspect that Imitacloprid would work better.
Mainly depends on whether this pest can develop resistance. Some beetles and bugs developed resistance very quickly. Also depends on how it is applied. DDT works on mosquitoes mainly because it sticks to the low objects mosquitoes land on and can kill large percentages of the mosquitoes. Malarial mosquitoes can be completely wiped out by these methods. It seems unlikely that spraying a forest from top to bottom is going to be viable.
