I don’t believe anything printed in the Atlantic. Gary Hartpence had a well-deserved reputation for womanizing. He was Bill Clinton before Clinton. If he hadn’t been caught with Donna it would have been someone else.
And Hart was by no means a sure thing in ‘88. There was no shortage of Dems that wanted to take on GWB.
