'Aggressors Will Be Annihilated, We Will Go to Heaven as Martyrs,' Putin Says
The Moscow Times ^ | Reuters

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that Russia was ready to "annihilate" any attacker who would use nuclear weapons against it, but would never strike first.

"An aggressor should know that vengeance is inevitable, that he will be annihilated, and we would be the victims of the aggression. We will go to heaven as martyrs, and they will just drop dead. They will not even have time to repent for this," he said.

In March this year Putin unveiled an array of new nuclear weapons in one of his most bellicose speeches in years, saying they could hit almost any point in the world and not be intercepted.

Among the new weapons that Putin said were either in development or ready: a new intercontinental ballistic missile, a small nuclear warhead that could be attached to cruise missiles, underwater nuclear drones, a supersonic weapon and a laser weapon.

Putin, who has dominated his country's political landscape for the last 18 years and often used anti-Western rhetoric to mobilize support, said the technological advances meant that NATO's build-up on Russia's borders and the roll-out of a U.S. anti-missile system would be rendered useless.

And curiously, Herr Hillary would have had us at war with Russia right now.
Wondering if that was the plan between her, Brak, and Putin?

This is like a homeless person saying he'll fight to the death to prevent someone from stealing the garbage he carries in his plastic bag.

We probably spend more on maternity uniforms and babysitting than he does on hypersonic weapons.

Hillary was virtue-signaling over LGBTQ!@#$%. Democrats spent the entire Cold War and the aftermath sucking up to Russia. Note that we don’t hear about Democrats wanting to do a defense build-up. *Any* hawkishness coming from the Dems is complete BS. The thought of fighting Russians has Dems breaking out into cold sweat. Meanwhile, the Russians had no issues shooting down USN and USAF aircraft in Korea *and* Vietnam. Putin loves to talk tough, but he’s not going to nuke us even if we kick the bejesus* out of the Russian expeditionary force in Syria. Because unlike Muslim zealots, he’s a pagan unbeliever who believes that this life is all we get, and he doesn’t want his family and friends cremated where they stand.

* No real reason to do so unless the Russians come after our men. I’d guess Eastern Syria is about to become a nascent West Kurdistan, if the Syrian Kurds show they can eventually run a somewhat functional state.

you are so wrong. Democrats have adopted a very tough stance against Russians since 2017, they have successfully forced Trump government to provide lethal aid to Ukraine.

Since Russia dumped full communism, the American left has been upset with them.
Almost wholly antagonistic at times, others pining for the old glory days of “Uncle Joe”.
Brak and Hillary sold US uranium to Russia in exchange for a plethora of goodies in return, most of which are still unknown.
I think the plan was a basic “eat and run” where Hillary got immediate goodies and then hoped she could start a war and avoid any blowback.
Democrats love war, all while accusing others of being bellicose.
They also love making deals and stabbing people in the back over them.
Just pondering the possibility there.

This is BS. Trump has adopted a conciliatory face to leaders of major adversaries like Russia and China, while kicking them in the nuts under the table. In the wake of Putin’s attempt to make Trump look servile during their press conference, Trump added a bunch of new sanctions against Russia. I understand that as a Russophile Slav, you can’t really help rooting for the Russians. But the fact is that conservatives generally don’t like Russia or China, for the simple reason that they were partially responsible for the deaths of 100K GI’s during the Korean and Vietnam Wars, despite significant American assistance to them during WWII.

That’s not apparent from the way the Democrats have spent the entire post-Cold War period kissing up to Russia and finding ways to reduce the American nuclear deterrent even as Russia upgraded its nuclear forces.

To the Left, Russia has been “the bad guys” since 1991, when she turned her back on Communism.

When you add in lactation stations and accommodations for women on submarines, then you’d be correct.

Doesn't every nuclear-armed state say that?

You two haven’t mention trans rights in the military. Downright transphobic ... it’s a big issue, and a considerable allocation for medical costs.

I think Putin has skipped all these interesting extras.

There are seeming endless issues in the new social experiment called the US military - failing to mention just one of dozens and dozens is an omission by limited space.

The Russian have there own issues with troops as they try to convert from a conscription military to a professional military. Very harsh treatment of new soldiers and horrific beatings are a real problem left over from the conscription model.

Well duh. Of course the Russians would defend their homeland. Didnt they prove that in 1945?

It was a stupid question and an obvious answer.

The latest from our favorite banty rooster.

Russia is the most alcoholic and drug addicted country in the world and he is complaining about a nuclear attack?

Who would be sober enough to notice?
