Cannabis becomes legal in Canada

Country becomes second and largest with legal national marketplace.

The Canadian government is ready to pardon those with a cannabis possession record of 30 grams or less as the country becomes the world’s second and largest country with a legal national marijuana marketplace.

Canada legalizes marijuana: here's everything you need to know Read more A federal official said Canada would pardon people with convictions for possessing up to 30 grams of marijuana, the new legal threshold, with a formal announcement due later on Wednesday.

The use of medical marijuana has been legal in Canada since 2001 and Justin Trudeau’s government has spent two years working toward expanding that to include recreational marijuana. The goal is to better reflect society’s changing opinion about marijuana and bring black market operators into a regulated system.

Uruguay was the first country to legalise marijuana, in 2013.

Legalisation began at midnight with shops in Canada’s eastern-most provinces the first to sell the drug.

Everyone knows the devastating effects of marijuana.
Its simply that people are simply licentious and do not care.

So, in Canada you can use drugs, eventually end up with some sort of CPD or mental illness and taxpayers pay for your medical bills:

Plus it ticks of the United Nations. You know, the people who didn’t write our Constitution (I know, know, what a quaint notion).

Actually it’s pretty good.

Mostly, it DOES keep MOST people from even bothering.

For now that scenario at least in Ontario cannot occur. There are no brick and mortar stores at the moment and won’t be until next year. For an Ontarian wanting to purchase legal weed the only way is online for now. Other provinces do have stores up and running but not Ontario. One online seller was handing out free green disposable lighters in front of Toronto’s city hall this morning to promote day 1.

And BTW that was the point - I responded to your logic.

Which yes, technically guns are legal (albeit highly regulated) all over, marijuana usage was not until a few places very recently, and guess what? Gun death exceeds marijuana death.

Doesn’t mean marijuana death will explode but the comparison doesn’t help your cause.

Yeah, that does make me a little nervous. We’re used to that in California though because a while back they made showing ID mandatory for entering bars and clubs regardless of whether you look anywhere close to underage.

No, if you’re in an apartment complex, you think partying potheads won’t spread their smoke down the halls? It’s been smelled in larger and more open environments than that.

That you can smell it does not mean you are going to get high from inhaling the aroma of it. I can assure you of that, and if that's all you fear, lay this fear to rest and fear no more.

Medicinal is legal in PA, and I have a card. I use a tincture (eye dropper) of a combination of CBD and THC. It helps considerably for my ostheo arthritis, and with only a little trial and error found a dosage that gives pain relief without any feeling of being high. Like anything else, it can be good or bad depending on usage and the person. I really don’t enjoy the feeling of a THC buzz. A drink or two is far preferable for that as far as I am concerned.

“Mostly, it DOES keep MOST people from even bothering.”

Again based on what?

It has been illegal for decades. That is as absurd as saying the legal drinking age has kept 18 year olds from consuming alcohol or how about smoking tobacco.

Has it?

Nope.

There are a ton of people here that will tell you they sure did do that.

The only thing its done has kept suppliers from selling directly to them.

It’s a conspiracy, man!

BTW, honestly I wouldn’t care too much about public usage, though if porn can be “zoned”, I don’t know why drug outlets like this can’t be “zoned”, also. My biggest concern is smoking it can waft into my area, and I can get “altered” by it, unlike using any drugs any other way.
