A lot of Salman’s rivals in the Saudi royal family are the people who have funded terrorism, and have ties to 9/11. salman is too young to have been involved. If he's really taking away the power of those terrorist elements we should back him. I don't see any realistic alternate who would be any better.

I think US and/or Israeli intel agencies were also involved in the 9/11 plot. That would explain why we protected Saudi Arabia, and started covering up their involvement immediately after the attack. They couldn't be touched without exposing that.

It does seem like the Islamist Turks are working with another faction (Islamist?) in SA to bring down the crown prince. This is all too neatly lined up to cause him problems.
