I I do not understand why the Guatemalans let these guys cross. I’ve crossed their border with Belize and Mexico several times and they have very well-fortified borders with guards with shotguns and machine guns. They make it clear in every meaningful ways that you will not pass unless all your papers are in order and you pay the fees and do things by the book. They are clear that violation of their laws will result in fines and prison time. Guatemala has no reason to allow these people in. They pose a liability in every way: they will have to be fed and watered and looked after and they pose a crime and disease threat and they take all these things seriously down there. There is no rational reason to allow them through. If it is a humanitarian interest it would be easier and cheaper to take care of them on the spot and repatriate them back to Honduras. It’s obvious to me that they in some way have been paid off. By “organizers.” It’s shameful we have no investigative journalists who want to dig in to this. Shameful. Frankly I don’t see how this works for the Dems politically, either. Most voters don’t want open borders. I’m mystified. Only corruption provides an answer.

“and you pay the fees”

This... Someone had to have paid all these fees for folks who are supposedly “starving to death”.

Paying double or triple can make the other requirements go away.
