UK weather forecast: Britain braces for ‘SEVERE snow’ - FREAK SOLAR STORM warning
UK Express ^ | Oct 16, 2018 | Nathan Rao

Freak changes in the composition of space around the sun are about to drive a chain of meteorological events locking the UK into a savage early Arctic freeze, it has been claimed.

The so-called solar corona has become dotted with holes on its Earth-facing side threatening serious knock-on effects to the flow of the jet stream and the weather this winter.

Temperatures are expected to nosedive towards the end of October bringing ‘substantial snowfall’ across Scotland, northern and central England.

It could herald the start of a four-month Polar assault with snow and sub-zero temperatures threatening to grip the nation until February.

Britain could be facing a worse freeze than that wrought by the Beast from the East which brought swathes of the country to a shivering standstill earlier this year.

Despite forecasts for milder conditions over the next few days forecasters are sounding alarm bells for the mercury to plummet within weeks.

WeatherAction’s Piers Corbyn said: “We are expecting some quite severe snowfall before the end of this month and it will not just be confined to the far north, this could reach parts of the Midlands or even further south.

There could be one or two east coast nor’easters coming at the end of October. Could see some snow inland and in the mountains.

I screwed up. I bought DGAZ in hopes of shorting the market. Rig count will drive prices lower. I am basically even so far.

Gee you mean that the sun affects climate more than molecular level changes of CO2 in the atmosphere?

Well if the Thames freezes over we will know the next little ice age is upon us. The last frost fair was 1814.

Large pinch of salt required. Piers Corbyn is a maverick who has always refused to disclose his forecasting methods or to have them peer-reviewed. He also happens to be Jeremy Corbyn’s brother.

This is really a story about nothing, "the weather will be cyclically normal."

Im really rambling about something I don't know anything about here based on parroting some local weather guys, Im sure one of our meteorologists will correct this...

This happens all of the time. The arctic oscillation is a wall of wind that keeps the extreme polar air trapped at the poles. On a frequent basis this beanie of arctic air that the earth wears has a portion of the wall weakened and deformed by the jet stream and the beanie becomes a beret. A couple of years back Canada and most of the northern tier states in The US experienced a winter under the slop of the beret. It was a little colder. I remember hearing a story not too many years back that the folks in Russia had gotten their turn. This year its Europes turn.

In other words, the normal weather variations that liberals insist don't happen is happening. Buy a warm hat.

How arrogant! Who are we to tell the Jovians how hot they keep their planet?

Dr. Viner has likely reaped full measure of professional visibility, grants, chairs, speechifying and other benefits from putting himself forward with what all now can see was politicized, non-scientific idiocy. If anything, his retirement package is likely flush as he travels the world incognito, slightly embarrassed, but nonetheless laughing that he knew how to milk the system better than his peers.

If there are changes in or around the sun, why would the results be focused on the UK? Or would there be effects elsewhere?

Here in the mid-South, we are having an interesting fall. It’s more like the fall without a fall, so far. To quote a local TV met, “It’s been hot-hot-hot-hot-COLD!” Or in other words, after weeks of unusually extended and occasionally record warmth, we dropped nearly 40 deg. on average, in a day. The drop itself is only moderately unusual for the area, but what’s different is that there’s little to no recovery, and it seems to be staying that way. If the weekly forecast pans out, I think we are into “Cold-Cold” territory, and the 14 day outlook is indicating another cold week after that.

My guess is that this is more likely due to a pattern oscillation than a direct / immediate effect of a solar variation such as described by the article. The US West looks rather warm, and looks to be staying that way. But for us, the lack of quicker shifts up and down with (often) an “Indian Summer” inserted somewhere in between the faster cycles, is a bit unusual.

From today (Nov 4, 2018) =>

“As unseasonably early winter storms dumped heavy rain and snow across Europe, Angela Merkel, the German Chancellor, effectively stepped down as the leader of her party and irreparably weakened her ability to keep Europe on an even keel.”
