The NRA supported the National Firearms Act of 1934, the Federal Firearms Act of 1938, and the Gun Control Act of 1968, for starters. Heres what they had to say about it:
"The NRA supported The National Firearms Act of 1934 which taxes and requires registration of such firearms as machine guns, sawed-off rifles and sawed-off shotguns.
NRA support of Federal gun legislation did not stop with the earlier Dodd bills. It currently backs several Senate and House bills which, through amendment, would put new teeth into the National and Federal Firearms Acts." American Rifleman, March 1968, P. 22
In 1968 they lobbied the federal government to make the age for handguns 21 and increasing penalties for earlier gun law violations. They supported the Gun Free School Zones Act and Project Exile. Theyre all in on bump stock legislation and they also support these new star chambers called red flag laws with some minor and unspecified restrictions. The red flag laws are the worst gun laws in my lifetime.
So, my question is what laws have they refused to compromise on? If you can find one then Ill cede the point. To be clear, Im not anti-NRA and Im certainly not anti-gun; Im anti-compromise and I think the NRA does too much compromising.

The 1934 and 1968 bills were passed in a different era. The NRA was not really a political organization then. None of the people who ran it then are even alive today. We did support Project Exile, which was about prosecuting people caught actually using guns in crimes. So do the vast majority of gun owners. You claim we are “all in on bump stock legislation” and “red flag” laws; where’s your evidence? You have none. The NRA picks these laws apart in detail to show how impractical they are, which you mischaracterize as “compromise”. Again name any gun control law passed in the last 50 years that the NRA supported. You can’t. All you do is whine about the one organization that is effective in stopping the gun grabbers, and try to get divert donations to groups that have no clout. There’s a reason the left weaponizes government to go after the NRA, and why they don’t worry about the GOA.
