Josh Hawley (MO) gets some air time on MTP.
Hopefully McCaskill is history.
Didn’t McCaskill get into office because her husband, the Governor, got killed in a plane crash? No, that was Carnahan, right?
Anyway, to me the idea that a person runs for office, or assumes office, and then dies, only to have their spouse take over, or child, etc., reeks of Aristocracy.
Personally, I think this violates the Title of Nobility Clause (Article I, Section 9, Clause 8) of the United States Constitution that prohibits the federal government from granting titles of nobility, and restricts members of the government from receiving gifts, emoluments, offices or titles from foreign states without the consent of the United States Congress.
No one should be allowed to pass on their office.
I further propose an amendment that prevents a relative from succeeding someone in office.
No Adams, Harrisons, Roosevelt’s, Kennedys, Bushes, Clintons or running for president if their father, husband or wife was already a president.
Maybe that’s unfair, but there are 325 million people in this country. Certainly the are others who can take up the mantle without electing a dynasty.
