We thought our politics couldnt get any crazier, but the political divide and the breakdown in trust became even deeper after the Brett Kavanaugh hearings. When Anita Hill accused Clarence Thomas of sexual harassment, we were permitted to disagree about who was telling the truth. No longer. This time youre complicit with evil if you dont believe his accusers and oppose Kavanaugh, said Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ).
Moral outrage has become the basic currency of political debate, with Hillary Clinton telling her supporters, You cannot be civil, and former Attorney General Eric Holder advising, When they go low, we kick them. So have we, as a story in The Washington Post says, hit rock bottom with no clear path up?
After Kavanaugh was confirmed, liberal columnist E.J. Dionne wrote that the Supreme Courts legitimacy is in tatters. Kavanaugh was nominated by the president, as the Constitution requires, but many liberals think Trump an illegitimate president because more people voted for Clinton. As for the Senate, which confirmed Kavanaugh, its undemocratic because little North Dakota has the same number of senators as California.
This amounts to a claim that all three branches of government are illegitimate. To those making such claims, its the Constitution itself that is illegitimate.

pretty tough choice
We just need to give back in-kind. The left will tire of that game quickly.
These dumbass Democrats are going to push too far--and then they we will all rue the day.
“Can our modern house divided remain one nation?”
Nope. Make note of where the fascist federal bureaucrats live in your community.
“...We just need to give back in-kind. The left will tire of that game quickly....”
Exactly and DEFEAT the militant libs soundly. They are cowards and will roll over if they realize their actions bring quick and fierce retribution.
It’s not divided. One side stayed where they are, or even went back to be here they should be. The other side, took an acetylene torch, cut the house in half, and keeps dropping sticks of dynamite into the crevice.
The first Civil War was not complicated: North v South, mainly.
This one will be more complex: guerrilla sorties in a mob-on-one basis until the vipers nests get cleaned out.
And that will be a much more ugly proposition compared to one army against another on a field somewhere in the country.
“The Perihelion” by D. M. Wozniak actually describes a US after a red-state, blue urban core split.
The nation votes for an amicable divorce. The cities put up walls and barriers you can’t pass without permission and an implanted ID. They build roads and rail networks that just connect with each other but mostly just fly across the red country.
You can immigrate one way or the other, but few do. They all split during the amicable divorce. It was seen as the solution to a civil war.
Then the red zones have their laws, the blue cores have theirs. And then a few of the genetically engineered the blue cores created start to revolt.
Lincoln quoted that, but rather than let the southern states have take their peaceable leave, he insisted on the deaths of tens of thousands in order to “preserve” a house which was already divided.
Quite true. A series of personal vendettas and score settling on a grand scale.
No one is going to be in nice straight lines attacking the hill.
Ambush, raid and street assassinations will be the norm.
To those making such claims, its the Constitution itself that is illegitimate.

They thought they had rendered it moot with the Kenyanesian Usurpation.
They were not prepared for US resurrecting it.
I used to compulsively read science fiction but now have rejected it. My weird ways of doin things.
That book you mentioned sounds interesting, though. I guess I could pretend it’s like the Fail Safe and Red Storm Rising types and read it. Thanks for the info.
Kick me.... I will break your kneecaps.
Kick my wife.... I’ll blow your brains out.
Actually, I am a nice guy, but I think most people have a dangerous side.
As far as I am concerned, it’s far too late bring us together.
Sure. Ship the crazed demonrats to Venezuela.
I got the nicest WWI era Enfield .303 rifle. Shoots flat to 300 yards it is a true battle rifle just like in Breaker Morant. Let the barking moonbats come at us I’m ready.
In this one there won’t be states and armies in uniform.
Bkmk
“As far as I am concerned, its far too late bring us together.”
I’m afraid you are right. The polarization is too deep, such that any reconciliation is just not possible.
My beloved America will see some very dark days in the not-too-distant future.
“I got the nicest WWI era Enfield .303 rifle.”
Excellent!
