Saw some aerials of Tyndall which showed one hanger ripped open revealing some T-38’s and Gulfstreams inside. Didn’t see any stealth planes.

Hope they were moved but are written off as lost and become a secret stealth squadron.

There’s another pic of a collapsed hanger and on the top left through the roof you can make out the tail of an F-22.

That ain’t going to buff out.

A quick search showed a Super Stallion chopper and said it can carry 73,000 pounds of cargo. (Not sure if that is inside or on a sling. It doesn’t look like it is large enough to carry 73,000 pounds inside.

An F-22 is 43,000 pounds. I’m guessing trying to haul a plane with wings that catch the air is a lot more difficult (impossible???) to sling than a Humvee.

How many fighter sorties have you ever produced?

2:20-2:40 of the video below show a hanger blown apart. Don’t see any F-22’s inside.

Those would make for an interesting ride on class 5 whitewater.

I assumed the remaining aircraft weren’t flyable. Still, it’s too bad Tyndall took such a hit. I suppose it could have been worse since Eglin is just to the west.

I’d like to think it was plainly bureaucratic incompetence, but it seems so incredibly stupid, that one thinks it might have been purposeful - take the opportunity to get rid of a few unwanted planes, and declare: “we need new ones!”

Very top left corner you can make out the tail of an F-22.

Probably the biggest loss of an American airbase since Clark was covered up by that volcano eruption in the Philippines some years ago.

Now that the planes are totally used. Maybe the Marines will be offered some F22’s.

Air Force officials have not disclosed the whereabouts of the remaining 22 planes, other than to say that a number of aircraft were left at the base because of maintenance or safety reasons.

Due to insufficient funding they were not operational. This is a function of Congress. If they could have been flown out, the Air Force would have sure as hell flown them out.

We lost 2 F16s because of Andrew (and I lost my $2000 stereo rack >.<).

I didn’t realize that there are still C5s in service. I suppose that is what the Reserves and Natl. Guard are using..
