The Senate confirmed 15 more judges late Thursday, all but wrapping up its pre-election work on a top Republican priority days after Brett Kavanaughs confirmation to the Supreme Court.
Clearing the judicial nominees provided a signature walk-off for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who has focused on reshaping the judiciary with more conservative judges. Once final action was finished later Thursday evening, senators were not expected back to session full-time until after the November election.
While many of the judges were approved with bipartisan support, almost half were confirmed on mostly party-line votes. Democratic opponents and their allies swiftly objected to some of the nominees, in large part over views aligned with stricter abortion access. [ ]
Singled out for opposition were David Porter, who was confirmed as a circuit court judge in Pennsylvania over the objection of that states Democratic Sen. Bob Casey, and Mark Norris, confirmed as a district court judge for the Western district of Tennessee.
Republicans have seen a bump in polling since Kavanaugh confirmation. McConnell has marveled at the way the Supreme Court fight is animating Republican voters who, polls showed, had been less enthusiastic before Kavanaugh advanced.

Give the devil his due, Mitch has been great at this.
15 is not 50 but a good start..
So Ditch is not all that politically intelligent?
Huzzah!
Give Mc-See credit...5 is better than nothing.
Good thing is there’s more to come.
oops...15
I don’t recall a SINGLE objection from the MEDIA over any of Obama’s picks.
I agree, he has done a great job on confirmations.
Not so good: there were 40-some in line.
But we did get 3 out of 4 Citcuit judges, so not so bad either.
Also today, the Senate confirmed two assistant attorneys general who were nominated by President Trump SIXTEEN MONTHS ago! Thanks to a recalcitrant senate, it has taken almost two years for the president to get his DOJ team in place. It looks like the senate has finally gotten religion.
Everyone watches Trump’s right hand shake with Kanye while his left ushers in judges.
Well since the media votes 95 percent Democrat they adored Barack Obama, he could do no wrong in their eyes because they worshipped the ground he walked on
Yeah, seems Mitch didn’t negotiate that one very well. There are a lot that were left on the table. There won’t be a single judicial appointment approved by the Senate if the Democrats take it. All of the ones outstanding should have been approved before adjourning.
Wasnt there something like 165 pending?
I think this year the establishment Republicans are realizing that Trump is here to stay for a while and they better get on the train.
won’t do-em much good if they lose the house...
