I think there are people with bad sentences. Obama, if I recall correctly, wanted equal attention to crack and powder cocaine. Seems fair and appropriate.

It was the Congressional Black Caucus, during the "crack epidemic" in the 80s that wanted higher penalties for crack in order to discourage minorities from doing crack.

30 years later........those penalties designed to protect blacks is now rasis.

Were those penalties for dealers are those who got addicted and busted for possession. Dealers, I am all for strict penalties. Those with possession related charges as long as they have no violent crimes that they were also convicted for, I am all for sentencing reform. Again, I think we need to distinguish those who are dealers and sellers, who should be in jail, and those who are non-violent offenders who may be in jail for long sentences related to possession of drugs. Again, I think Trump is talking about sentencing reform for “non-violent” folks only.
