The author does NOT understand what a Darwin Award is. To qualify, you have to act in a way that takes your life before you propagate or at least render yourself incapable of procreation.
A lifelong habit of smoking cigarettes before getting lung cancer does not qualify.
Being indifferent towards saving the planet before dying decades later of melanoma does not qualify.
You have to act in a way that something goes boom, bang or slash on your person, right away, either by your own hand or by a mechanical contrivance you set in motion. Anything short of that is NOT Darwin Award material.
