I worked with an Italian from Connecticut who could have starred in The Godfather, accent & all. But he had absolutely no knowledge of the slur word “guinea” (the subject came up on Columbus Day). We looked in an unabridged dictionary; the word meant either a British gold coin or a species of grouse.
Frank Sinatra believed that when he walked into a room full of non-Italians, they were all thinking “guinea!” when they saw him.
To me, “chink in the armor” means a PLA soldier in a tank.
