Collins’ long winded defense of Kavanaugh was disconcerting. It was almost as if she was laying down her conditions and expectations of him in exchange for her critical support. I got a definite sense of a quid pro quo.

Your observations and concerns about Republican appointees to the Court are spot on.

Would it have been better to let the dems win this round and have his appointment canned?

*************

Of course not. Some people are just saying he may not turn out to be as conservative as many think he is, or hope he will be.

Its OK to be a little skeptical. If you’ll recall, it was Ronald Reagan who famously said “Trust but verify”.

“The Lefty Twitter crazies will be calling him “a serial rapist” and “a gang rapist” daily for the rest of his life.

No worries!”

Of course, but will he still try to make them like him by ingratiating himself to them.

[Justice Kavanaugh met with his four law clerks, all women ]

See?, he’s a rapist.

I realize that is a possibility, but I’m not getting hysterical over it.

It’s going to be what it’s going to be.

I suspect, however, that the dems have kind of ensured that he’s no friend of theirs.

“The past is secure. It is unalterable. The seal of eternity is upon it. The wisdom, which it has displayed, and the blessings, which it has bestowed, cannot be obscured; neither can they be debased by human folly, or human infirmity. “

Story obviously never dealt with Leftists.

Thank you for reclaiming these words from Justice Story of the Constitution: "The wisdom, which it has displayed, and the blessings, which it has bestowed, cannot be obscured; neither can they be debased by human folly."

The "educated," but Constitutionally-illiterate Progressives do display "human folly," but their animal screams and sub-human behaviors belie any serious attempts at "obscuring" the Constitution's ability to protect liberty, if interpreted in accordance with the Framers' intentions--which is precisely why they are objecting to Justice Kavanaugh.

Progressives prefer a Court which crosses the "Separation" line between the three branches of government and would make the Court a Legislative extension.

"Man once surrendering his reason, has no remaining guard against absurdities the most monstrous, and like a ship without rudder, is the sport of every wind. With such persons, gullibility, which they call faith, takes the helm from the hand of reason, and the mind becomes a wreck." --Thomas Jefferson to James Smith, 1822. ME 15:409

"Faith" in the cultish Liberal/Progressive ideology robs the mind of "reason," just as surely as have other "religious" cults. Is it not about time for this "gullibility" to get off the stage of American politics?

The clerks are not real women.

They are conservatives.

He’s not gonna be able to virtue signal hard enough to appease the left. That doesn’t happen. Ever.

He can set himself up for his office to be converged by SJWs though.

I’m gonna be very surprised if he hasn’t already.

He said in his testimony that he has always had a lot of friends that are female. It looks as though this carries over into his profession as well for whatever reason.

I’m guessing he just wants to pay them 40% less than he would for a man.
