Last year 'Tropical Depression Harvey' rapidly intensified into a Category 1 Hurricane.
Current forecasts have the Tropical System becoming a Hurricane and making landfall about 7 PM Wednesday, 10-Oct-2018.
Landfall would be near Alligator Point - Baldwin Point State Park - St. Teresa - Port Leon. It is too early to forecast the exact landfall.
However, it appears that Gainesville (U of Florida) and Tallahassee (Florida State) may be affected. These locations are inland.
Current forecasts are for sustained winds in the neighborhood of 100 mph.
Possible rapid intensification ABOVE CAT 1 may cause problems...
Currently added to FRONTPAGE - there may need to be BREAKING thread on this as there is about 60 hours until landfall...
Should we be singing “Michael Row Your Boat Ashore” or
“We’ Got to Get Out of This Place”? Anguish choirs inquire.
I live in Tallahassee and the storm has us in its crosshairs. If that holds, my storm preparation will be to drive down to Orlando on Tuesday and stay with family until the power is back on here.
What’s the matter, you don’t like Nauti Nurse’s thread. Been doing a bang up job for many years now. Here is the thread. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3694423/posts
As long as it keeps moving and doesnt stall should be ok
And here I just got the last of my concern-calls about Florence... where I explained to the other person that in this corner of far northwest SC, I’m more concerned about hurricanes coming up from the Gulf than from the Atlantic.
And now there’s a hurricane coming up from the Gulf... and like Florence, aimed right at us.
Florida has declared a state of emergency...
It is about 60 hours from landfall.
2. Last year, I was the first to post about a 'tropical depression'. That later became Hurricane Harvey...
3. Nothing on Breaking or Frontpage, though it is on Extended news.
Maybe you need to go to Democratic Underground and demand censorship of FreeRepublic articles...
Agreed
My sister and I are in Tampa for my Aunt’s funeral. We head back to Atlanta tomorrow. Hopefully it won’t rain all the way.
You think that makes you some kind of expert because you were “first” on Harvey. NN was there with every update around the clock without fail as always.Well you were not first on this one, NN had you beat buy a good 12 hours.. Enjoy “your” thread, just for you.
So who is taking bets on the weathermen we will see leaning against the harsh 5 mph winds?
Michael is currently projected to go ashore south of Tallahassee on Thursday in the early AM. We should both be OK for travel tomorrow and will probably pass each other on I-75 around Gainesville.
Tropical Storm Michael could become Cat 3 hurricane in Gulf of Mexico - NOLA.com
I believe landfall is Wednesday evening but before midnight...
Possible rapidly strengthening storm and moving fast at it approaches Florida...
Florida State University and University of Florida need to make decisions ASAP on what students should do...
The good news is that those schools are inland. There’s really no place they can go to. I-75 is going to be a madhouse as it is.
So at least Florida State will be closed from Tuesday to Thursday...
No action that the school is taking to close down the school... Yet...
