Media labels vs. Reality: Socialist = Stalinist Liberal = Marxist Moderate = Socialist Conservative = Liberal Far-Right = Moderate Ultraright/Racist/Bigot = Conservative Mainstream

This is particularly true when political figures outside of the US are being discussed. Case in point: politicians like Angela Merkel and Theresa May are described as "conservative" by the media. It's also quite telling that "Far Right" or "Ultra-Right" is a common political buzzword, but you almost never hear "Far Left" or "Ultra-Left" being used as a pejorative to describe any political candidate, even when talking about actual, openly Marxist figures.

That’s why there’s no definition in my list for media use of “Communist/Far-Left”, because it doesn’t exist in their world. To them, Communist tyranny is moderate-liberal mainstream.
