Yes, I will give her that. But it is a sad day where someone stating the obvious is suddenly viewed as a hero or great statesman.
Hindsight is always 20/20. Collins was the focal point of the Dem attacks. They besieged her office, issued death threats against her and staff, demonstrated at her house, and tried to intimidate her as she walked the halls of Congress. This went on for weeks. The pressure was enormous.
Collins didnt cave to the mob. And give some grudging credit to Flake. McConnell was also superb.
Collins brilliant speech was the closing argument for Kavanaugh. No other Rep endorsement of Kavanaugh came close. I fail to understand why some on our side demean or diminish Collins critical contribution to the dialogue on Kavanaugh. The reality was that there were relatively few Rep senators who came out strongly in favor of Kavanaugh. The silence was deafening.
