“Hope that plane includes a well armed multiperson escort.”

Chaff dispensers and sidewinders too.

It would be sad if he had to miss the wedding, but the future of America is at stake. An uncle, brother, or similar can stand in. Anyhow, with a private plane standing by he can do both. McConnell has the authority to end voting whenever he wants to.

I think Daines should vote no matter what. A larger spread between the ayes and nays would be good when history is written.

“If I need to be in two places at once to walk my daughter down the aisle on her wedding day...”

No if about it.

Every senator who plans to vote for Kavanaugh needs a backup plan to get to work today. The leftists know where they live and they will obstruct traffic all the way to the Capitol, where, it would surprise nobody, phoned-in threats could lead to emergency evacuation procedures.

Unless anyone thinks the demonic opposition has decided to surrender and slink away in shame.

"Since they did, they better have security around the clock for the plane and wedding until then.

Well, around the plane, anyway. This being Montana, I suspect that more than a few attendees are CCW-ing.

“He’s a US Senator. Wife and daughter need to grow the fsck up.”

Post of the day. Pithy.

If his wife wants to learn about sacrifices women make for their country she should read “Those Who Love”, a biography of Abigail Adams. Then let her whine about a fru-fru wedding.

"....being selfish and self centered by doing this. He has been aware of the upcoming vote for a couple of months and neither he nor his daughter has made adjustments to prepare for the eventuality.

I would have made exactly the same choice. The wedding date likely has been set for many months. The schedule of the vote has changed on a daily basis.

This guy’s a putz and a douchebag. I live overseas and am not in the military. I miss family stuff all the time, funerals, weddings etc...because I have responsibilties.

The other Senator is also attending the wedding. So that’s two votes on the plane.

__________

they wont make it, or Mirakowski will go back on her word.

You heard it here first.

These leftist fascist totalitarians will do anything.

Agree. This talk of graciousness and collegiality and putting personal obligations before the good of the country, I find it embarrassing.

Daines is a good man and I support him walking his daughter down the isle.

You want him replaced? Move to Montana and vote him out, if not stay out of my state’s politics.

It would still be 50-49, and Pence would be standing by to break a tie.

I agree. He must vote first. It’s too important for the country. Should the wedding be delayed a few hours, so be it.

When our GI’s get deployed they miss lots of birthdays and anniversaries and weddings and kids being born...

**************

Absolutely. They truly serve and ROUTINELY do things above and beyond the call of duty.

A senator should do no less.

How long can the vote be held open?

I agree.

Everyone makes sacrifices in their work.

The police who work the hols.

The nurses who miss their children on Christmas.

The people who are mandated to continue working because of storms and shortages of help.

The guys who repair highways at nights so traffic can flow.

Senators are not exempt.

“There had better be an armed guard around that plane and a very reliable competent and trusted mechanic check that plan over before it takes off.”

“Well, around the plane, anyway. This being Montana, I suspect that more than a few attendees are CCW-ing.”

All of these aircraft are in secure hangars and you cannot get onto the runway or hangar without a code or showing proper identification to an FBO (we have three @ BZN).

We are allowed to carry a concealed weapon everywhere in the state without permit except in places/municipalities which prohibit it (Bozeman prohibits but the airport is not in Bozeman).

Greg’s aircraft is as safe and secure as anyone’s who flies into BZN - and we get some VERY VIP’s here all year around. The only aircraft that occasionally flies in that needs extra security is AF-1 & AF-2 (just a few days ago).

This guy is a phoney. Duty before family when you serve the country. Millions of military members have lived by this for centuries. Senators live privileged lives. On the rare occasion that they are asked to sacrifice their precious social schedule they should do so without hesitation. I hope this d-bag gets primaried.

How many people serving their country, military

I missed my sisters wedding, as I was 13,000 miles away. In fact I didn't even know about it until a mom letter arrived a week later.

I've had fun with it since 1969 as I now accuse her husband of sneaking around behind my back with my little sister. He was one of my high school friends. He came back to the world from Nam only four months before my ETS. They could have waited four months.

My story is he rushed it because he knew I'd stand up in church to OBJECT.

It all good natured back and forth bantering.
