The PD stated they were asking state level PDs to step in. The PD is in a bind. If they investigate and come up without evidence, they can legitimately be argued to have bias. If they find evidence, then they turn the case over to prosecutors beholden to Ellison’s son.

The state AG is the one to be angry with. Because Ellison is running for AG, the current AG (I do not know if this is Ellison’s opponent) should refer the matter to the state troopers, and would likely have to recuse his office, or at least himself.

Our justice system is predicated on protecting the rights of the accused, even when it’s scum like Ellison. I despise the man, but we as a society need to ensure that all convictions are gained in a scrupulously fair manner. Further, all exonerations must not cast doubts back on the accused.

I believe the girlfriend. But I also understand that the investigators must be above reproach for the investigation to be legitimate. We all despise the Mueller witch hunt, so we shouldn’t advocate setting up a similar problem in Minnesota.
