I can’t imagine something won’t be worked out. If democrats had any amount of that “comity” they all talk about, they would agree that the vote could happen on Friday so that Daines could make his daughter’s wedding. No one’s vote is likely to change in the extra 12 hours.
There will be no ‘comity’ ... the Dems would see this as another chance to attempt to scuttle Kav. They will take ALL 30 hours available for debate after the cloture vote, I’m sure. If agreed, the 30 hours can be dispensed with entirely, but the Dems will never go for that.
Daines said he won’t be present at all on Saturday so that’s problematic - the vote was going to be at 4-5 pm on Saturday. Mitch might have to make the vote later tomorrow, which would push the vote to Sunday if Mitch held everyone for the weekend. Of course, everyone wants to be in their home district campaigning, so being in DC is going to be unpopular. Mitch has threatened to keep the Senate in session over a weekend before - he might do it again.
Dems talk about comity, but only require it of Republicans.
