Me too. Air Force, 1964-1968...VietNam era, yes...VietNam service, no.

I spent my four years in Maine, and in Germany, having the time of my life.

I won’t even wear my USAF cap in public because people come up and thank me for my service...I don’t feel like I deserve that thanks for what I did in the Air Force was to get excellent training for a future civilian career, play in my band, and chase girls.

The only saving grace I might lean on is, I was IN, and I guess I was subject to being sent to VietNam, but I was never sent. The missiles I worked on went to Vietnam, so I guess that was my ‘indirect’ connection.

We now have more people claiming to be Vietnam Veterans than were ever sent to Vietnam. I was with the 101st Air Mobile 69-72, 11 months in the A Shau at FOB Bastogne.
