Well, we use alcohol. Mom and Dad didn’t have a problem with our doing so. They just chose not to use it. Mom, who’s passed, was Methodist. Dad’s Presbyterian. They came from large families, were the only dry sibs. Not sure where the choice to abstain came from. It was just their choice and we respected it. And it wasn’t a big deal.
I like beer. And Bourbon. A summer afternoon with a couple Gin Tonics is wonderful. OTOH, my wifes family has had a few serious drunks along the way (but also a Methodist Minister) so she doesnt drink because she is not sure she could stop. Like Trump.
I wish more people would abstain from alcohol. That way the price would go down and I could afford the occasional snort.
