A dear old friend of mine went to school with Durbin in downstate Illinois... he says Durbin was a dirtbag who hung out with a bunch of area teens who used to play a game they called “Ni&&er Polo”... which was driving in East St. Louis alongside the sidewalks, with one or more of the kids hanging out the windows holding sticks. Their goal was to get “points” by successfully smacking unsuspecting black pedestrians with the sticks.

And no, I’m not kidding. That might be why the SOB moved north instead of running for office where he originally came from.

I know you are not kidding. I grew up across the river in North St. Louis County and heard about some kids in my high school who would squirt black people with a water gun as they drove by them. At least they weren’t smacking them with a stick, but it was still shameful behavior.

Turbin actually did run for office in 1982 from the downstate 20th congressional district, which extended to Alton, and he served as Congressman from that district until 1994. It bordered the district where he grew up. I was always so glad he was across the river from me and not my representative. The reason he did not run for office in the district where he grew up is because Melvin Price had been the Democrat representative from that district for 10 years, and it would have been political suicide to run against him.

Speaking of Alton, are you aware that there is an image of a prehistoric “Piasa” bird painted on the bluffs just north of Alton?

You should have called the Mochsel Savage show today. He was looking for dirt on these hypocrites.
