Local newspapers may have a police blotter section detailing any criminal arrest. Hickory, conover and newton are a few of the towns in the county that would have newspapers.
And if that happened in the 80’s those local papers will be on microfilm. Not so easy to scrub.
Local Libraries also used to carry print copies, most likely databases now.
