How does the confirmation if done this Friday affect the next few weeks?
1. Ticked off Dems show up to vote and are activated
OR
2. Demoralized Dems stay home

Ticked off Dems will also possibly take to the streets, they will harass people, maybe even outright riot.
They’ll do that before November.
Chicago 1968 was when the radicals acted out and disillusioned many Democrats, at least temporarily (they pushed back one last time in 1976). It led to 1972 for the Democrats and radicals taking over the functions of the party.
Now the heirs of the McGovernites who’ve gone off the rails even on top of that are the core of the DNC and the base it plays to. They have positioned themselves so that they almost can no longer even act like they’re moving to the center.
So the base of the party will be energized no matter what.
But they’ll bleed at the political center.
I’m rooting for a new round of weepy, distraught and despairing Democrats videos, as repeat of 16 in 18. Of people so hurt that they’re retreating to safe spaces and then so vengeful that they’ll discredit themselves forever.
