But he did cause harm to the deputy so it may be a felony charge. In CA it would be. My daughter in law broke her hand arresting a juvie who resisted and she was pretty much forced to file a felony charge.

I agree he should be charged with the highest level offense possible, but this simply will not stand up as attempted murder and a jury would likely never convict on that.
