I think those are one in the same, mostly. The approach Sir Timothy is taking preserves both. It's quite easy to create an encryption model that only the pod owner can decrypt, or provide decryption access to a select few, not including the facility that houses the pod. But in that model, your security and privacy is only as good as your friends. Choose wisely.
Absolutely. And it looks like all the servers are already encrypted, including your own in your machine if you choose to keep it all local and provide your own resources and storage.
It looks like setting up your own server is no more complicated than setting up a virtual machine. It wouldn’t be long and this would be a turn key package.

No truer words could be shared here. From what I see this is the only way it could be breeched. It would have to be someone you personally trusted with your encryption key and data.
