Torpedo: Last year retiring Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Arizona, published a book, Conscience of a Conservative: A Rejection of Destructive Politics and a Return to Principle, in which he purported to support POTUS Donald Trump because he wanted him to succeed.
Within months, however, there was Flake the conservative, writing in far-Left Politico that the GOP was in denial about Donald Trump, a piece which disparaged the president and left the impression with readers, in no uncertain terms, that the Arizona Republican (like his counterpart the late Sen. John McCain) would not be counted among POTUS allies in the Senate.
We created him, and now were rationalizing him. When will it stop? he wrote.

Moral of the story: terrorism works.
He can forget about running against Trump for the nomination.
Even the most die-hard Never Trumpers hate his guts now.
Article is a waste of bandwidth
“Conscience of a Conservative”
Right. Dimbulb Flake swiping a line from Barry Goldwater.

Daniel 6
13 Then they said to the king, Daniel, who is one of the exiles from Judah, pays no attention to you, Your Majesty, or to the decree you put in writing. He still prays three times a day. 14 When the king heard this, he was greatly distressed; he was determined to rescue Daniel and made every effort until sundown to save him.
15 Then the men went as a group to King Darius and said to him, Remember, Your Majesty, that according to the law of the Medes and Persians no decree or edict that the king issues can be changed.
16 So the king gave the order, and they brought Daniel and threw him into the lions den. The king said to Daniel, May your God, whom you serve continually, rescue you!
17 A stone was brought and placed over the mouth of the den, and the king sealed it with his own signet ring and with the rings of his nobles, so that Daniels situation might not be changed. 18 Then the king returned to his palace and spent the night without eating and without any entertainment being brought to him. And he could not sleep.
19 At the first light of dawn, the king got up and hurried to the lions den. 20 When he came near the den, he called to Daniel in an anguished voice, Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to rescue you from the lions?
21 Daniel answered, May the king live forever! 22 My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight. Nor have I ever done any wrong before you, Your Majesty.
23 The king was overjoyed and gave orders to lift Daniel out of the den. And when Daniel was lifted from the den, no wound was found on him, because he had trusted in his God.
24 At the kings command, the men who had falsely accused Daniel were brought in and thrown into the lions den, along with their wives and children. And before they reached the floor of the den, the lions overpowered them and crushed all their bones.
Another view is that Grassley is confident about this and has no worries about the final vote. He’s just meeting the request of a few whiny RINOs to give him some cover, and perhaps trying to elicit more Dem stupidity.
As for Flake, his new constituency is K-Street and the mainstream media as a commentator. He’s got to suck up to them.
They say that if you want a friend in Washington D.C. you should get a dog. The dog would have been a much better friend than Coons to Sen. Flake.
A gutless coward with no moral convictions.
Two facts that will point you in the right direction to understand flakes motive. Since the election, he has been criticizing Trump nonstop. He has become friends with obama.
Flake is now eating his own.
Some that aren’t die-hard surely don’t like him anyway.
Lord, that Cat 5 hurricane was not enough. Can you send us some tornados as well.
It’s funny Sen. Hirono tells men to “just shut up” yet women can get in Republicans faces and scream and holler at them. Should I make a gender joke here?
The other possibility is that Flake’s move set up a win for Kavanaugh on the Senate Floor. Graham said that they didn’t have the votes on Friday. This move was designed to get Murkowski and Collins votes. That is the only way to get Kavanaugh approved. The notion that we could have won on the floor without this concession is fantasy.
The NeverTrumpers pundits/commentators are fighting with us for Judge K’s confirmation and GWB has been calling the weak-kneed senators as well. Suddenly we have a common goal and enemy, and they realize this.
And failed, as usual.
Goldwater’s book was a treatise warning about the GOP lurching to the left and into anti-Constitutional darkness. Flake’s book is a call for the GOP to complete their journey to the aforementioned dark side.
Goldwater became Flake in his final years.
Flake might as well move to California.
