Back in 1965, before Teachers unions, I was the art editor of our 75th anniversary HS yearbook. Our faculty advisor, examined all text, artwork at every step of the way, text, pasteups, and galley proofs. One young “progressive girl” was caught out pushing clap trap against the Viet Nam war and was dismissed. Her parent principal meeting must have been interesting since her dad was US Army Col. He shipped her out for attitude adjustment. ;>)
sorry to say it but, from outside the US, this is all unbelievably silly.
We had no say in our yearbook except one quote - which in my neighborhood was either Omar Khayyam or Khalil Gilbran or Rod McKuen.
