I’ve heard that Justice Kennedy made Kavanaugh’s appointment by Trump a condition of his retirement.
Whether or not that is true there is a lot going on behind the scenes here that we don’t know about.
Likely, smears are being prepared for everyone under consideration for nomination — just not all the same kind of smears.
