if there are enough votes without flake (and he didn’t say he would vote NO..just said he’d be more comfortable with an investigation) repubs can still call the vote & tell the dems to frick off.
fbi investigation doesn’t impact the vote since all 11 voted to move this to the floor.
dems didn’t get what they thought they were getting.
They got what they wanted.
They got one week in which to roll out more and more "victims" to level increasingly heinous accusations -- each of which will, of course, require an FBI investigation.
Consider:
"If you agreed it was reasonable to have an investigation for mere inappropriate touching, how can you possibly object to giving the FBI as much time as they need to investigate these serious allegations of multiple child molestation incidents?
"These poor men have been wounded for life due to this man molesting them when they were young boys. Don't they deserve at the very least an FBI investigation, just as you granted that poor Doctor he abused?"
