An online investigations group has published what it says is the real identity of one of the prime suspects in the Salisbury nerve agent attack.
Bellingcat has reported that the man who was named as Ruslan Boshirov is actually Colonel Anatoliy Chepiga, who they say is a highly decorated officer in the GRU, Russias military intelligence service.
The Home Office said it could neither confirm nor deny the reporting about the suspects real identity.
Scotland Yard, which has already said it believed the two suspects were using aliases, declined to comment.

If true, then it’s not really a KGB operation....it’s more of a military operation. It would also beg questions on the passport used, and the fake nature of it. If the Russians issued a fake passport...what else are they doing?
Do you really believe that stuff?
Its makes out that getting a UK visa in Russia is an incredibly difficult process yet 250,000 Russian tourists visited the UK in 2017.
It’s amazing that so many regular Ruskies can do what is supposedly beyond the capabilities of Russian intelligence.
We need to go easy here.
There are no photos of Colonel Anatoliy Chepiga available. The photo supplied is not of the suspect.
The accused is 37, that would be very, very rare for a GRU colonel.
Even more rare is a GRU colonel on the hit team.
The typical age for a GRU officer to be sent abroad is 35. They are typically Lt. Col.
It looks like Chepiga participated in a wet job in 2015 https://www.unian.info/world/10285713-turkish-journalists-believe-chepiga-boshirov-participated-in-liquidation-of-chechen-terrorist-media.html If this is true it is likely that he was promoted to colonel, thus the rank of colonel at a young age,
Nowadays GRU is very sloppy
