There are two warring camps: Team Rosenstein and Team McCabe. Team Rosenstein consists of current officials: Jeff Sessions, Dana Boente et al; and Team McCabe has former officials: Lisa Page, James Baker, Mike Kortan et al.
Each camp has a media outlet to push their narrative. Team Rosenstein has The Washington Post; Team McCabe is using The New York Times. Sources for NYT reporting are from team McCabe; Sources for WaPo reporting are from Team Rosenstein. Understand this, and the reporting narrative context makes more sense.
Both Andrew McCabe and Rod Rosenstein took corrupt and illegal action to try and take down the President of the United States. However, generally speaking, McCabes actions were specifically intended to facilitate a soft-coup; whereas Rosenstein was more of a willingly facilitating useful idiot in the grand scheme.

Looks more like Dinner with the Donner Party.
Rosenstein is still in his job. He’s still overseeing Mueller. He got away with stonewalling and defying congress. And he convinced Trump to back off on releasing the FISA docs.
He seems to be winning. Just saying.
I had a bit different take. I figured Rosenweasel was the last firewall and the NYT article was published as a reminder that Rosenweasel would also end up in jail if he caved.
There is strong speculation now, from Sara Carter, that the FBI maintained two sets of books on the coup and that Rosenweasel may have been briefed on the fake FISA before he signed it. If true, then he was clearly a useful idiot per the take by Sundance.
Brian Kilmeade said this morning he recently was at a gathering where Rosie was in attendance - Rosie came up to him and said, “don’t believe what you hear about me”...
I go back and forth as to whether Rosie is a black hat/white hat..
We’ll soon find out, cuz those FISA docs will bring down the house.
Very interesting bit in your comment. Wonder if Trump back off on releasing the FISA docs because he was given a better hand to play by Rosenstein. Very confusing who is on who’s team. Sessions? Rosenstein? If you get in the swamp you can get bite.
Sundance has been so consistently wrong about Sessions, Rosenweasel, Horowitz, Priestap, et al it is very hard to have any confidence in his theories.
Bear in mind that everything Sundance posts is just his opinion, no matter how persuasively written. He has often turned out to be wrong.
I have my own theory on why Trump backed off on FISA but I’d rather not get into such speculation since its something I cannot prove. Its just based on my understanding of how the Swamp operates.
I do however strongly believe that there is information inside the FISA docs that is ESSENTIAL for the American people to know. Besides deceiving the FISA court, there was sedition that involved collusion with foreign countries — I think that’s pretty well know by now. Even Trump alluded to it.
I cannot think of anything more important or urgent than allowing Americans to see what went on and who was involved. We must get to the bottom of this subversion of our elections and a coup attempt against a sitting president. Why is this information being withheld by someone who promised to put America First?
Unfortunately MOST of his stuff turns out to be wrong. But he is a persuasive writer!
Rosenstein is in it for Rosenstein.
“Sundance has been so consistently wrong about Sessions, Rosenweasel, Horowitz, Priestap, et al it is very hard to have any confidence in his theories.”
Yup. Doing full 180’s with nary a hint of embarrassment or contrition.
Good piece
We are waiting for the unredacted FISA docs... supposed to start surfacing this week from the IG's office? ? ? ? More likely, this is meltdown week in D.C.
We are waiting for the unredacted FISA docs
**************
I don’t think we should be waiting. There was a presidential order over a week ago for “immediate declassification”. That order has not been complied with.
Many of the documents should have been released by now. We have not seen even one.
As I understand it, POTUS did not wish to leave himself open to charges of interfering [with Mueller, Huber etc.] so he turned over the redaction chore to Horowitz, the IG. We can supposedly begin to see unredacted docs this week, perhaps continuing for a while. . . . We wills see.
Horowitz works for DOJ. IG’s are internal parts of their agencies and disinclined to rock the boat or make their own agency look bad.
Horowitz has to go to work everyday at DOJ. Put yourself in his place. That’s why relying on the IG is a mistake.
