What Grassley said: The Committee will attempt to evaluate the new claims.

What Grassley should have said: Disputed memories of teenage drinking parties of 35 or more years ago are not sufficiently reliable to be the basis of serious hearings of the United States Senate Judiciary Committee.

If accusers wish, they can send affidavits of their claims to the Committee and they will be placed in the file.

But the hearings have been concluded and it is time to vote.

That’s a well crafted statement and indeed should have been the response. There should be a job for you in Wash DC, but there’s only one person there who can speak so plainly and he’s not in the Senate.

Well, maybe two or three if we add Nunes and Cruz.
