I hope Hayward is right. He tends to be a good judge of these things. Of course even if it plays out how he expects two of the "3 amigos" could still torpedo it, or possibly Flake could torpedo it in committee.

Dostoevsky might come in handy right now for weary observers of the empty-of-spirit, pathetic and hateful Progressive ideologues who inhabit this still-wonderful nation called America!
"A man who lies to himself, and believes his own lies becomes unable to recognize truth, either in himself or in anyone else, and he ends up losing respect for himself and for others. When he has no respect for anyone, he can no longer love, and, in order to divert himself, having no love in him, he yields to his impulses, indulges in the lowest forms of pleasure, and behaves in the end like an animal. And it all comes from lying - lying to others and to yourself." - Fyodor Dostoevsky

"The darker the night, the brighter the stars, The deeper the grief, the closer is God!" - Fyodor Dostoevsky

"When I look back on my past and think how much time I wasted on nothing, how much time has been lost in futilities, errors, laziness, incapacity to live; how little I appreciated it, how many times I sinned against my heart and soul-then my heart bleeds. Life is a gift, life is happiness, every minute can be an eternity of happiness." - Fyodor Dostoevsky

"Only through suffering can we find ourselves." - Fyodor Dostoevsky

"If there is no God, everything is permitted." - Fyodor Dostoevsky

So did I, to quote from the 18th:

“Don’t know, but I remember telling anyone who would listen that if the 11th-hour accusation against Roy Moore worked you could bet that would be the pattern from now on.

...and it is.”

Rush made a great point a few months ago.

He said that democrats are willing to expend political capital to get what they want. Obamacare. They passed it controversially without a Republican vote and were willing to pay the political cost to get what they want.

Aside from Trump (who is a nationalist populist who ran as a Republican), the Republican ruling class has no balls. They want to be liked by the media or by the two coasts (NY/LA) and cave.

These charges are bull. The new ones are even worse bull and it won’t stop.

Now Antifa is coming to town to cause chaos. The images and audio are on Twitter now. They expect to get arrested by Capitol Police.

Hold the vote Monday.

Let us get rid of those that have no spine and expose the democrats as the angry anti-American mob they are.

At this point, somebody needs to seriously play hardball. The Dems need to be hit where it hurts, either in donations (which a lot of this is about) and/or in prosecuting illegal behavior. Somebody needs to kick the heck out of a hornets nest, right about now. Nothing voters care about but something that will remind them that these folks in no way represent their interests.

Grassley has caved, what, 3 times now?

No difference this time.

(I am not optimistic. I believe Pres. Trump will be forced to withdraw Kavanaugh’s name)

Kavanaugh needs to file defamation suits ASAP because the commies are just going to continue with this crap until the RINOs cave and demand he step down.

Wow, this was hard to see coming, he said with amazingly dripping sarcasm. Chuck Schumer said he as going to do this from DAY ONE. You could count on the Gloria Allred technique to be trotted out in a blink of an eye. And the idea that only one allegation would be brought was silly naivety. Everyone saw this coming.

Enough!!! So what are the Republicans to do now? I have some ideas.

Kavanaugh is being savaged in a pseudo judicial setting otherwise known as a Kangaroo Court. In this court, there are no legal standards and the allegation is enough. End it and make them prove it. Kavanaugh should immediately raise a lawsuit for defamation and make them PROVE it under appropriate legal standards. After all, the truth is a defense to a charge of defamation. It shall set them free!! Or will it?

Secondly, McConnell should recess the Senate. He should fully do so and has the power to do so. Once recessed, he should allow the President to appoint someone not named Brett Kavanaugh. This would be done with the following “shove it up their asses statement:

“The democrats have demanded an investigation. Fine, there will be one and Judge Kavanaugh shall have the full opportunity to defend himself. In the meantime and in order to give the process ample time, the President has appointed (Fill-in the name of their WORST EFFING NIGHTMARE HERE). This person will serve the recess term or, when Judge Kavanaugh is confirmed.

Behind the scenes, its time to go full Alinsky. Not against the accusers, oh no. Its is time to turn the heat up on the dems who on the Senate Judiciary committee and their spouses, families and friends. Feinstein needs to have her opponent fully funded and supported, even if that means a lefty further left than her gets into the Senate. That kooky shyt head from Hawaii needs to be investigated and fully roasted.

Enough defense, enough of allowing totalitarians to destroy the citizens of this country!!!

It doesn’t take a genius to see what was going to happen. What has Grassley said? They need to bring this witness forward the same day as Ford. Ford’s story was falling apart so they needed another one with worse claims. If Grassley doesn’t move this nomination forward, he is done as far as I’m concerned.

Let’s suppose this seat on the SCOTUS goes unfilled for some time (like 6 years). If a 9th Circuit Court opinion is appealed to the Supreme Court and the vote is 4-4, does the 9th Circuit opinion stand? If so, that might be the Democrat’s end game? Fill up the SCOTUS docket with wacko rulings from liberal courts and hope for 4-4 ties?

Lots of comments tonight. A few of them are offering suggestions for a way ahead or finding more information to inform everyone on this forum. Most comments are in full blame mode, and most of those are blaming the Republicans. I see the evil hand of Democrats at the bottom of all of this and I think that the blame belongs clearly on them. But, that’s just me.

Any Republican Senator who doesn’t see this as a political stall tactic and hit-job against a decent man doesn’t belong in the Senate.

End this Chuck or we all have to pay the price.

Third, I think this entire late gambit has been one huge bluff by the Democrats, intending to intimidate Republicans into dropping Kavanaugh. I don’t think Dr. Ford has any intention of testifying before the Judiciary Committee this week, and I expect come Wednesday we’ll get a self-serving announcement attacking Chairman Grassley and the Senate Republicans for “bullying” and creating a “hostile environment” in which Dr. Ford cannot “safely” tell her story. At that point, Grassley should call for an immediate committee vote to proceed with the nomination.

I hope Grassley shows some leadership and courage.

There will be claims of one or more “credible threats’ about noon Wednesday, and the poor little pitiaful wannabe witness will claim to want to testify so badly, sadly however, the threats just won’t allow her to take the chance.....
