The Bible gives us instructions on how to deal with people claiming to “be a brother/sister” but living in and promoting sin. These are like the Pharisees in the Bible, men claiming to be holy but working wickedness. Those, Jesus did rebuke. Here are 3 quick examples, but there are many verses concerning this subject:

But now I am writing you not to associate with anyone who claims to be a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a verbal abuser, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat. What business of mine is it to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? 1 Cor. 5:11

As for a person who stirs up division, after warning him once and then twice, have nothing more to do with him, knowing that such a person is warped and sinful; he is self-condemned. Titus 3:10-11

As for those who persist in sin, rebuke them in the presence of all, so that the rest may stand in fear. 1 Timothy 5:20

I agree we should not hang out with those who try to lead us astray...we should also try to carry the Word to those who have been led astray.

I know that without the Blood of Jesus, shed to wash away my own sins, I would not be worthy of Heaven - and that even though I have been saved, i am not without many of my old faults and sinful behavior...many forget the deal where Jesus told the mob that anyone who was also without sin could go ahead and heave that first stone at the one who did something they all considered wrong....I believe it had something to do with sexual immorality.

There is also a place where the Bible tells us to try to help those who stray with firm love and if they opt not to try to do better then go ahead and stop associating with them. I think the key word in it is "love", which is easy to say and hard to do.

Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law. 9The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” a and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” b 10Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

Much can be said about Romans...God Bless and thanks for responding to my wry stab with some love of your own.
