The fate of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein could turn on whether President Donald Trump believes the account of an ex-FBI official who, as Trump once asserted in a tweet, had "LIED! LIED! LIED!"
Rosenstein discussed secretly recording Trump, though one person who was present at the time said Rosenstein was just being sarcastic, and reportedly suggested removing the commander in chief from office. Rosenstein issued a swift denial to both claims.
The revelation that the second-ranking Justice Department official had even broached those ideas has created even more uncertainty for him at a time when Trump has railed against law enforcement leadership he has perceived as biased against him.

If this Kavanaugh lynching as expected backfires on the Democrats on election day, Rosenstein will be fired. He is the plug that prevents the swamp from draining. It will be interesting to see the vile creatures writhing in the muck.

On principle, he should have been fired long ago. I realize politics is the driving factor but its nonetheless unseemly to see someone this corrupt still on the government payroll wielding power as the defacto attorney general. Its an insult to the taxpayers of this country and those who believe in some semblance of accountability.
If Trump were to get rid of everybody the Times will have accused of trying to undermine him, he will destroy his Presidency himself.

RR has committed crimes against the USA. He is in violation of Ethics in many decisions he has made. Still he is kept there by an unknown entity. Why would anyone want him around. He is not lying a trap for DS. He is DS. If Trump keeps RR he is complicit in RR’s crimes. The FISA signing comes to mind.

Firing should be the first step. He is a criminal and he needs to serve as an example to others who would subvert and undermine a duly elected president.
That Rosenstein lasted into the weekend suggests Trump is giving him benefit of the doubt, his hatred of NYT is greater than his distrust of Rosenstein.
Rod Rosenstein is an Obama holdover. That’s all you need to know. Obama holdovers are presumptively corrupt and MUST BE REMOVED.

Trump was being sarcastic whenhe joked whether we were more likely to see Hillary’s scrubbed emsils from a Russian leak than our own Federal goverment responding to requests into government corruption and Freedom of Information Act requests.

I think Rosensteins account is probably closer. The NYT is trying to bait Trump into firing Rosenstein. I do think he should be fired for other things he’s done but not before the election.
