Can someone please explain to me where this rumor got started that if Kavanaugh isn’t confirmed by October 1st, that he can’t be seated until after the fall session of SCOTUS? It’s like a Twitter virus.

_________

Although Bill Mitchell is still tweeting that Oct 1st has some special relevance:

Ford wants to testify Thursday because that will guarantee Kavanaugh cannot be seated Oct 1st. This would likely mean he may not be confirmed at all and Democrats can run on saving a SCOTUS SEAT.

_________

If anyone knows what the deal is with Oct 1st, please share.

Would not take part in any hearing that already started...can be seated by Senate anytime.

Ok, issue is cleared up, I think. Appears Tucker Carlson started the Oct 1st panic..

A few things:

1) I don’t think there will be any testimony in person by Dr Ford.
2) The Tucker rumor about Thursday being too late is misunderstood and not true. He means if he doesn’t have votes for confirmation it’s too late to submit another name.
3) Everyone relax.

There is no relevance to October 1. Kavanaugh will join SCOTUS immediately after he is confirmed by the Senate and sworn in! Doesn’t matter if SCOTUS is in session or not - he will be seated and can immediately sit in on cases before the court after he’s been confirmed and sworn in!!
