It will never be fast enough or decisive enough for the “get a rope and hang ‘em high” crowd, but this is a delicate political moment just weeks ahead of the midterm. He must give the appearance to the moderates and independents who are inclined to vote Republican that he is making a great effort to accommodate the lady. To do anything less could cost the Republicans the Senate. We may not like those actions but the Republicans have a paper thin majority in a nation which is equally divided.
Senator Grassley and Senator McConnell working in concert have given us more judicial confirmations in the first 18 months of President Trump’s term than ever in the history of the United States. And there will be more before the year is out.
Mitch McConnell’s speech at the Values Voter Summit is worth a listen, even if, like myself, you are not a big fan of McTurtle:

Exactly. We can say we tried working with her six... seven ...times and SHE refused. A few days ago the independents thought we’re not being fair to her. We need them to win in 6 weeks. We have to win the house and the senate. Once we do the democrats are toast. Then they will have to put on their hoods join antifia and show everyone who they really are. In a year or two Trump will appoint Ginsburgs replacement and then it will be war. They will be completely unhinged. But God IS on our side.
Indeed. We must appear fair to the independent voters or it will cost us the House and the Senate. We will never sway the diehard Left to change their ways or think or act reasonably. The only thing we can do is convince voters we have a better path for America and vote them out of office.
Some on here are misinterpreting Grassley's public appeals to the lady to come and give her testimony as a sign of weakness, but he must give superficial service to the "fairness" for the sake of the elections coming up.
McConnell took a tremendous amount of heat postponing the Supreme Court replacement in 2016 to the president elect to choose. That was a Hail Mary pass in hopes that the Republican candidate might just possibly pull out a win, a feat which our President Trump did in fact manage. And that effort gave us Neal Gorsuch on the SC. Rome was not built in a day and these Left-leaning 'Rats will take some time to root out.
