If Feinstein had said that she believed everything in the letter was truthful, she would have assumed the burden of proving the truthfulness of the the allegations. Logic says that she simply can’t do that. By “clarifying” her remark and saying she believes Ford is credible, the burden of truthfulness remains with Ford.
