I’ve heard of valedictorian and salutatorian of a class, but not egalitarian. Is this a new usage of the word, and could you define it for me? Not being snarky here, just trying to learn something new to me. Thanks

No, not a new use. Unless you count autocorrect changing a word on me after I had it spelled the way I wanted before I pressed Post. Happens whenever I use my tablet instead of my PC. That's why I took so long to respond; I'm on the PC now.
