This kind of fearmongering is grossly irresponsible and can get people killed. Unfortunately, Snyder has a habit of doing this kind of thing, as does the rest of the fear-press industry.
Stay calm, stay cool, and cooperate with others to survive. Make rational decisions and do not let fear drive the decision-making process.

Yeah I would certainly get off the Outer Banks but other than that I don’t see it being that dangerous.
We were in the great Kansai earthquake of 1995 (Japan) which happened just before 6 am. By 6 pm, the army had a water wagon set up at a nearby school. My daughter, then age 9, went to stand in line to collect the 2 gallon water ration for our family.
She reported back that the only disturbance was from an orderly crowd trying to urge an old woman forward so she wouldn't have to stand in line like everyone else. However, the old woman insisted on waiting her turn.
