Americans know (and,I'd guess, most Canadians know) that $50,000 a year buys a lot less in many areas of the I-95 and I-5 corridors than it does in most of the rest of the country. For example, several smaller units just like mine in my condo complex just sold for the same money that will buy you a three or four bedroom house in suburban Pittsburg or Charlotte,NC.
It is amazing that the Trust Fund crowd and the Welfare Class have formed a coalition making it possible for ILLary to get more votes than DJT.
I try to be vague as possible about where I exactly live and make, but I live in an expensive city, and combined my wife and I are in the $75,000 to $100,000 family income group. I will concede we have 4 kids, but we are struggling at that income. Seriously. After everything each month we go into debt. Mind you we have to pay off my wife’s student loan and pay over $800 per month on private school.
My wife gets her and kids clothes at salvation army, we rarely eat steak, don’t go out anywhere fancy, and really don’t spend money on sports for the kids. That is just how hard it is to get by in Canada. Our grocery budget is $1200 per month. We don’t buy fancy things or organic, and we often exceed that.
