Taking too good care of your kids hurts them more......at least Heinlein thought so: "Don’t handicap your children by making their lives easy."
People make idols of everything. America simultaneously worships children and childhood and sacrifices them though abortion and abortive birth control.
Matthew 28
16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.
17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
For Christians, this has always been the most important thing.
And the argument isn’t quite the standard “give up some of your money, so others can have more and get better things”
THis argument is “you should stop being so good to your kids, so they have it as bad as the others, because otherwise your kid will be better prepared than others for life, and will do better than the others, and that isn’t fair”.
Like a “hey, lets make sure nobody is any good at anything, because it is unfair that some people have the ability to get better at stuff when others don’t.
I’m waiting for the left to call for banning marriage, or penalizing it, because it is “too much better” for kids and gives them an unfair advantage.
